Despite my age I still hesitate to call myself a woman; marriage and motherhood also seem to have little import I still think of myself as a girl. Does this have any pertinence to this post? Well no not really but let's face it the disclaimer is right under the title.
Ash Wednesday also known as the start of Lent, I actually lost sleep last night debating on what I would give up for Lent. I think I decided on candy, not that I eat a lot of candy as a rule but the unemployment stress has me eyeballing sweets like Augustus Gloop. Think I might tack on to it last year's give up, no superfluous spending; ie. groceries and household necessities only.
Have you ever tried a spending freeze? I actually got the idea from a blog last year; it worked really well and coincided with Lent I didn't really struggle until Target teamed up with Liberty of London. I made it though thankfully there are areas of the mid-west that are unfamiliar with Liberty prints and therefore only see them as cute and Springy not completely edible.
So tonight I propose a toast to the following: kindergarten enrollment, benign cysts, heroic idiocy and the American dream of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
